Light. My one little word for 2013 still sticks close by to me as I enter into this new year. A few weeks ago, I wondered what my one little word for 2014 should be. It somehow suddenly found its way to me. It is a word that has resonated in me in different ways. Action. This word reminds me of the Bible verse, “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth,” (1 John 3:18).
I am declaring that my word for 2014 is action. I want my actions to speak boldly. I want to take action on those dreams of mine that have been nurturing in my heart. I want to love others and God through my actions. However, I don’t necessarily think that action always means “doing” something.
Sometimes, I need to stop, rest and be patient.
Sometimes, I need to be still before God before I take my next action.
Sometimes, action means to be in prayer and have faith.
So, I’m totally done with making a list of endless goals and new years resolutions that get ignored and not done. This year, I have my one little word, that will grow and bloom in it’s own way as the year unfolds.
What is your one little word for 2014?
When I was growing up, I was always taught that actions speak louder than words. I like how you defined all different kinds of action.

Be done with resolutions! Having olw is so much more fulfilling (if I may say so myself).
That’s a lovely visual for your OLW.
“Sometimes, action means to be in prayer and have faith.” That is so true! I need to remember this. Look forward to reading what your OLW will bring to you this year.
Action will be a good word to continue your journey. Did you take that picture at the Flower Dome? It sure is beautiful.
Yes, it was at the flower dome! 🙂
I love your word! I had consider action or move, but ended up with well. Enjoy your exploration of action.
What a powerful word choice! I love your photograph/visual as well — with the one flower in full bloom and the other resting, waiting, being patient until it is ready to take action as well. Looking forward to hearing how “action” leads you this year.
I like your word, the picture and the idea of letting your OLW bloom.
Love this entry Jee-Young….
Thanks Lina! !:)
