A Singaporean Slice of Life

It’s quite amazing that even though I’m living in Asia, I’ve met a few different slice of life writers over here! A few weekends ago, I had the privilege of meeting up with Elsie from elsie tries writing here in Singapore! I was thrilled to meet her, because I felt like I knew her, even though we’ve never met in person. Elsie has been following my journey from Korea to Singapore through my blog posts!  She was here on vacation and spent a few days in Singapore on her travels through Asia.

I met her in front of her on rainy Sunday morning at her hotel. We walked to the ION mall that was close by. We grabbed breakfast at the Toast Box. We had toast and tea, Singaporean style. It felt like catching up with an old friend. As we shared about our travels and lives over breakfast, I was glad that we could finally connect in person. She even brought me a present, a poetry book, Forgive Me! I Meant To Do It by Gail Carson Levine! It was the perfect present, as I’m getting ready to teach poetry after the winter break. Thank you so much Elsie!

I’d sure like to have another slice of that peanut butter toast! It was great fun meeting you. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I’d make it to Singapore, but so glad I did as found a friend there. Have fun with the poems. 🙂

Jee Young I had a delightful visit with her when she came to California in the Spring. What a treat to be able to connect in person like we connect through our words! Keep sharing yours. God bless you as you embrace and share His light in 2013.
